EqSartoria is the personal practice of Javier Hidalgo, a Master Tailor with more than three decades of experience at the highest level of British and Italian luxury menswear.
Javier’s journey began in 1995 with an eight-year apprenticeship on Savile Row at Hidalgo Brothers, where he was trained in the classical methods of pattern cutting, hand finishing, and fitting under master craftsmen. That foundation has remained the bedrock of his work ever since.
He went on to lead workrooms and made-to-measure departments in some of London’s most respected houses. As Head Tailor and Workroom Manager at Sartoriani on Savile Row he reorganised production, recruited skilled talent, and raised quality standards. He later founded his own successful tailoring business, Mera Tailoring, supplying elite clients and houses including Harvey Nichols, Selfridges, Hackett, Austin Reed, and Ermenegildo Zegna.
Subsequent senior roles followed at Billionaire Italian Couture, Aquascutum (as Deputy Store Manager and Made-to-Measure Specialist), and seven years as Tailor at Tom Ford International on Sloane Street. Since December 2022 he has served as Head Tailor at the Brioni London Flagship, where he continues to oversee complex alterations, bespoke pattern development, and the highest standards of client service on precious fabrics.
